This is a picture of my husbands grandfather after his plane crash landed behind allied lines in 1942. He crashed a second time after being shot and steering the plane with his knee. He ended up in a head injury hospital in england for over a year and was listed as missing before being able to make his way home. I think it is important to never forget.
